    Description

Fresh from a very old estate is this quite scarce pre - prohibition advertising tray for Rose Valley Whiskey. The tray measures 16-1/2" by 13-3/4" and features a turn of the century scene of a young lady with a horse. The tray has a thin layer of gold paint covering the portion where Rose Valley Whiskey is and a bit at the top where it reads Kentucky's Best. I was told this was done around the time of prohibition because this tray was hung as a sign and they didn't want to be seen advertising alcohol. I scrutinized the paint very closely under magnification and can see part of the advertising underneath. The paint layer is very thin, so a knowledgeable and capable person can possibly clean this up a bit. I was considering doing it myself but I'll leave it up to the next owner. Aside from the paint there are a few areas of spotting and a tiny hole at the top of the rim where tray was hung. All in all a pretty rare find with potential. Please email if you have any questions.
